Mark your calendars! The weekend of June 20 & 21 is going to be unlike any other this summer. A motley bunch of incredibly talented young musicians is descending upon Southern California and assembling under one roof. Ladies and gentlemen, Hamsadhwani is immensely pleased, excited and thrilled to present our annual youth music festival - SARANGA 2015!
As you probably know, the event last year was a tremendous hit all around. Every single artiste who performed outdid himself or herself on stage. But two moments stood out over and above all else. One, when Manamohan held a post-lunch audience spellbound with a rendition of RTP that made every single person believe that she woke up to witness the perfect thunderstorm if ever there was one. Another, when Shiva and Arun played the violin and also with our hearts. It was 10 pm in the night. The audience did not move an inch as time stood still.
Such magical moments cannot be manufactured. They simply happen. But for the magic to happen, there should be the right artistes, the right support, the right ambience, and most importantly, the right audience. Carnatic music is perhaps unique in that the audience actually participates in the process of music, and not just remains one that applauds at the end of the performance. Hamsadhwani is proud to be the facilitator of this connection between budding young talent and the audience. No wonder that the initiative is growing wings - the Nebraska chapter is up and running and their first concert is coming up this very weekend!
