Arun Ramamurthi is a disciple of Violin Maestro Delhi P. Sunder Rajan. He developed his bowing and fingering techniques early on beginning with Western classical lessons at the age of 4. He was initiated to Carnatic music on the violin by Shri Krishna Kutty at the age of 10 and has been training under the able guidance of his guru Delhi Shri P. Sunderrajan since 2000. He has also learned vocal music from Smt. Padma Kutty. Arun has performed both as a soloist and an accompanist at numerous venues in the U.S. and India. He has become a regular performer at the December Music Festival in Chennai, having performed at several of the leading venues. He graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Music and Economics and currently works in Newport Beach, California
kiran athreya
Kiran Athreya is a disciple of violin maestro Delhi P. Sunder Rajan, and has been playing violin since the age of ten. He has accompanied many senior vocalists and has performed extensively in Southern California and Arizona. He is a recipient of the prestigious Alliance for California Traditional Arts (ACTA) Master Apprentice fellowship in 2008. Kiran is a senior in college working towards a bachelor’s degree in Public Health.
Nishanth Chandran
Dr. Nishanth Chandran gave his first carnatic violin performance at the age of 9 and has since then given several concerts all over India and the US. A disciple of the renowned violinist A Kanyakumari, Nishanth is an A grade artist of the All India Radio. He has performed with leading artists such as saxaphonist Kadri Gopalnath, Neyveli Santhanagopalan, T.M. Krishna, flautist Shashank, and so on. In 2009, he performed as part of a music ensemble orchestrated by the legendary sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. He has several accolades to his name - including the best violinist award from the Music Academy, Chennai (on several occasions) and the best violinist award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. Nishanth received the Cultural Talent Search Scholarship from the Government of India at the age of 9 and in the year 2001, he won the All India Radio 1st prize for instrumental music. Nishanth is the descendent of Thillaisthanam Rama Iyengar (who was the direct disciple of Saint Thyagaraja) and is also a classically trained vocalist under the guidance of P.S. Narayanaswamy. Nishanth holds a PhD in Computer Science from UCLA and is currently a cryptography researcher at Microsoft Research.
Anupama Murthy
Anupama Murthy started learning Carnatic violin under Sri Krishna Kutty when she was 7 years old and for the past ten years, from she has continued her advanced training under renowned violin vidwan Delhi Sri. P. Sunderrajan. She has accompanied many Southern California artists in their vocal recitals and also been part of the musical ensemble for various Dance schools in Southern California. Anu has also learnt vocal music under Smt. Padma Kutty of Irvine for the past 13 years and has performed and participated in cultural events. She has been part of several fund raising and charity events. Anu has been actively involved in many cultural activities in UCLA. Anu has also learnt the western violin for several years. Anu is a graduate in Bio- Engineering from UCLA.
SHIVA RAMAMURTHI
Shiva Ramamurthi is a disciple of Violin Maestro Delhi P. Sunder Rajan. He initially started learning violin from Shri Krishna Kutty at the age of 6. He was introduced to Carnatic Music at the age of 4, taking vocal lessons from Smt. Padma Kutty. He has been under the guidance of his guru, Shri Delhi P. Sunder Rajan since 2001. He has performed in various venues throughout the U.S. and many sabhas in India, including a series of concerts during the 2011 December season in Chennai. Other than Carnatic Music, Shiva has also learned Western Classical violin. He is currently working in Rancho Santa Margarita CA.
sankar subramanian
Sankar Subramanian hails from a family of musicians. He started learning violin at the age of 11 under the able guidance of P. V. Sankara Narayana Bhagavathar in Madurai. He was also trained by his father R.Venkata Subramanian in raga Aalapana, Kalpana swarams and Niraval, through vocal music. Shankar has participated and won in numerous state and zonal competitions. As a graded artist of the All India Radio, he has given several programs in the A.I.R and has accompanied many leading artists. A resident of Los Angeles, Shankar has been serving the music community of Southern California, ever since his arrival in 2000.
VASANT IYER
Vasant Iyer started his training in Carnatic violin under Dr. Nishanth Chandran and has continued learning further under violin maestro Delhi P. Sunder Rajan. He gave his first solo performance on violin in January 2011 and has since accompanied for several vocal recitals in the Los Angeles area. Vasant has also Learned Carnatic vocal music, receiving initial training from Smt. Indu Nagarajan and continuing with Sri AS Murali and Sri Delhi P. Sunder Rajan. Vasant is currently a freshman at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
