Anil Narasimha has been learning Carnatic vocal music from Hemmige Sri V. Srivatsan, a leading disciple of Palghat Sri K.V. Narayanaswamy. Since his debut vocal concert at the age of eleven, Anil has given concerts in Chennai, Bangalore, Mysore, Cleveland, and in many other cities in the USA. He received the first prize in most categories at the 2003 Cleveland Music Festival, including AlApana, niraval, swarams, and pallavi singing. Anil adheres to the bANi established by the renowned Ariyakkudi/KVN music school. He also had the unique opportunity of learning and performing with Pandit Ravi Shankar, and was fortunate to perform at the renowned Hollywood Bowl in 2009. Anil received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University in the Department of Genetics. Comments are closed.
